More Toyetic then Usual: Late Reactions to HGFC Gundam Spiegel

The G Gundam hype train still continues as we get more HGFC kits, Bolt Gundam withstanding. This time, it’s the Neo Germany mobile fighter Gundam Spiegel, utilizing the fighting style of German Ninjutsu?

Oh the benefits of modern engineering. The HGFC Gundam Spiegel faithfully recreates the aesthetics and proportions from the 1994 series but with all the bells and whistles of a contemporary kit. While it has a relatively simple color scheme with the dominant black color scheme, you can expect excellent parts separation with those off white, red, and yellow bits.

For weapons, Gundam Spiegel comes with the arm-mounted Spiegel Blades and hand parts wielding three Messergranz blades each. Speaking of hands, it also comes with several pairs for more display options.

Speaking of display options, this is where this kit becomes more “toyetic” than usual as it comes with parts to build a manually-rotated display base to replicate its Sturm Und Drang ultimate attack. Because G Gundam.

Which is a good segue to everything that comes with this kit. Besides the rotating base and a black Action Base 5, the model kit-original gimmick from series director Yasuhiro Imagawa are five Ninjitsu scrolls with German text on them, because it’s German Ninjitsu. They are mounted by a special clear bracket that attaches to the waist. I’m not sure how much effort is needed to setup this display, but the inclusion is appreciated regardless.

Given how they can’t seem to release the HGFC Bolt Gundam, it makes me wonder what kits are they going to release after the Gundam Spiegel? Everyone’s clamoring a Tequilla Gundam model kit so Bandai Hobby might finally cave in? There’s also the Mermaid Gundam and Windmill Gundam. Either way, the HGFC line will just go crazier after this guy.
