My usual route going home from work includes passing through several malls. That’s the usual story of how I end up with unplanned kit purchases. Last week was a bit different since I thought of checking out a Bandai Official Gashapon Shop, with no intentions of getting anything. Several minutes and 15 tokens later, I got what you see below.
These come from the Capsule Guardian line of Gashapon products and while I’ve had a slight curiosity about them, it’s not enough to actually cash in tokens–until last week. To those unfamiliar, these toys transform from Gashapon shells into fully articulated robots. No fiction or backstory, just some very nifty transforming Gashapon toys, everything else if left to the imagination. Each wave also comes with three Guardians and compatible Weapon Beasts.
I got Gashapons from second wave of releases, Capsule Guardian II, and out of my three attempts, I managed to pull two unique guardians. Each figure stands at a head height of 150mm and they fit very well in my collection. I’m thinking of whether to make more pulls or I’ll just track the rest of the set online, or I’ll just forget that I wanted this set altogether.
Consequently, Bandai has just announced the third wave of releases, Capsule Guardian III, and I’ll probably wait for these to pop up on our Bandai Official Gashapon Shops.
