This is like the Alyzeus in “Code Geass:” Premium Bandai Exclusive HG Zi-Artemis

I guess designing these overly complicated and very busy-looking machines is an ongoing trend.

It’s been a couple of years since Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture was released, and I’ve still yet to finish it. I was already around halfway through though I’ve yet to see the UZZ-001m Zi-Artemis in action. Well, I guess today’s a good time to resume the binge with the HG Zi-Artemis getting released sooner than we think.

For starters, the Zi-Artemis doesn’t look like your conventional Knightmare Frame, which are known for agility and speed. This thing doesn’t even have legs, giving Zeong vibes from Mobile Suit Gundam. Same goes with its odd proportions, and all of them are replicated accurately in this kit.

Despite the unique silhouette, Zi-Artemis has a lot of features that make it one of the stand out designs from Code Geass.

Taking a closer look, we are greeted with this feminine silhouette at the core of the machine. It does make sense given that Rozé is the pilot of this Knightmare Frame.

It can transform into Fortress Mode, a high-speed flight mode and unlike a good number of transforming Gundams, this one actually looks aerodynamic. The transformation is done with the use of an alternate frame/block.

The main feature of this kit is its combination with the HG Zi-Apollo to form UZZ-001 Zi-Ortygia. Zi-Apollo becomes the core unit while Zi-Artemis becomes an armor unit, very similar to the Alyzeus from Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe. I’m not exactly sure how finnicky this combination would be, but at least it looks really cool.

Combining Zi-Artemis’ Irminsul Drive and Zi-Apollo’s Irminsul Unit results in significant power boost, reflected with these energy wings. The model kit comes with PET sheets to replicate this feature.

Zi-Ortygia gains several new weapons with this combination. This includes a pair of Large Cannons, which are essentially large caliber rifles that could take advantage of Zi-Ortygia’s equally large manipulators.

The set also comes with parts to build a couple of F.L.E.I.J.A. Eliminators, one in storage while another in its deployed form. Both are made from clear green plastic, though you might want to paint parts of the deployed form in clear pink.

On that note, here’s everything that comes with this kit.

As I mentioned earlier, I’ve yet to finish watching Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture, and getting this kit is a good reason to return back and finally do it. Not to mention the curiosity of how they’re going to implement the transformation and combination features with the HG Zi-Artemis.

I do need to start building these large power-up units since I’ve been building quite a backlog of such kits. These include the following:

  • HG G-Self Assault Pack
  • HGUC Penelope
  • HG AM Boxer + AM Gunner (for HG Huckebein Mk-III)
  • HGCE Destiny Gundam Spec II + Zeus Silhouette
  • HGUC Alyzeus
