I’m Good with the Gold: HGCE Mighty & Type II Strike Freedom Gundam – Double Build Work in Progress #1

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this previously, but I’m doing away with my previous practice of double/dual building kits unless they’re very similar, like what I did with my HGUC Victory 2 Gundam kits or what I’ll do with this build. As a Scrum Master/Agile Practitioner by profession, I am well aware and have experienced “context switching” whenever I switch between kits. That’s why I’m doing a double build for the HGCE Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, as previously teased, I opted to complete a significant portion first.

And by portion, I meant the main mobile suit itself. To recall, I am building separate kits of the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and the Strike Freedom Gundam Type II as I’m not a fan of backpack switching, especially since the Proud Defender and the Super Dragoon backpack units respectively use different connectors, despite utilizing the same standard double-peg connection.

Similar to my HGAW Double X build, I went ahead and did the gold inner frame to check if the painting process I’m planning to do would work. Basically, I went ahead and painted all the joints and internal parts that would be visible in metallic gold. This involved a lot of masking on the pegs and connectors. I also wanted to check if the armor parts next to the elbows and knees would have allowances for the painted parts or if I needed to sand them. There are also the usual vent parts in black but after painting all the gold pieces, and with help of the great color separation, I was able to build the main body straight forward.

I will build the other copy with the knowledge I got from the first one, and whichever kit would look better will be the Mighty Strike Freedom while the other will be the Strike Freedom Type II. Oh, and still need to get an HGCE Strike Freedom backpack unit. Likewise, since I don’t like the process of switching blade antennas for the Disruptor, I got myself an extra Mighty Strike Freedom head from Buyee, which will become the dedicated replacement head unit for the Disruptor.

Thoughts?
