I was initially planning on opening this post with something along the lines of “Oh, Sen-Ti-Nel is still making these…” — only to remember that I purchased their most recent release earlier this year. Anyway, We are still getting more Fighting Armor figures, though I’m inclined to think they’ve strayed away from the original concept of the line. To those unfamiliar, Sen-Ti-Nel’s Fighting Armor figures play with the concept of our familiar Marvel superheroes getting Iron Man-esque armor that reflects their character and powerset. I’m also in the opinion of the line being mostly retools of the base Iron Man sculpt.
There are exceptions, like their last figure, the Hulkbuster, and now this one: Rescue.
Rescue is the Iron Man armor Pepper Potts use, which made its Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Avengers: Endgame, and is the same version being made into this Fighting Armor figure. To those curious how the comic version of the armor looks, check out below.
Back to the figure though and it is a good choice to go with the MCU version as it has a distinct contrast to Iron Man, and the rest of the Fighting Armor line.
The emphasis for this particular figure, is to convey that there’s an actual person inside this armor, with the joints and articulation being designed to match the movements of a human body. So expect to put this figure in good poses, especially with the slender design. It also helps that die cast parts are used in various areas to provide rigidity and stability.
And since this is based on the MCU design, Rescue comes with the drone units seen on screen. They can be displayed as being launched from the back of the armor, or being fully deployed with accompanying effect parts to match. A display stand is included with this figure so I do hope that there are parts to display the drone units when deployed.
When I was writing this post, I was already convinced that I’m going to place a pre-order for this figure. But as I end writing this, I’m thinking of skipping this figure instead. I do have the S.H.Figurarts version — #2004 / S.H.Figuarts / Iron Man Mark 49 “Rescue” — if I only want a representation of the design in my collection. What sways me to consider pulling the pre-order trigger are the redesigns that add more angular elements and make the design less nanotech-looking.
But we’ll see, especially with the premium price tag this figure commands.
