What Did Sentinel Do This Time? “Transformers: Age of the Primes” Sentinel Prime & The Conduit

Ever since Hasbro announced the Age of the Primes line, we knew we’d finally be getting The Thirteen as actual figure releases. What I didn’t expect, especially after rumors of this set started coming out, is that we’ll also get Sentinel Prime. He’s obviously not part of The Thirteen so what business does he have with the other Primes?

Before answering that, let’s first talk about how Sentinel Prime looks. I was hoping he’d be close to the purple and yellow robot we saw in G1, but he’s more of the yellow and orange deco I believe based on his IDW comics appearance. As a toy, this deco was first seen in the Titans Return version. The figure itself is an extensive retool of Legacy: Evolution Voyager-class Tarn. I had no plans on getting that figure but at least I’m now able to experience the its engineering.

Sentinel Prime assumes a nondescript Cybertronnian Tank in vehicle mode where you can clearly see this golden circular thing at the back.

That is Sentinel Prime’s artifact, The Conduit, and it lets you place all the artifacts from The Thirteen into this seemingly hodgepodge-looking arrangement. Placing all the artifacts in place opens the Well of Sparks, and I have a feeling Sentinel Prime has some nefarious motive in doing so. It also doubles as a shield in case he fails to gather the other artifacts.

I wanna say this turn of events for Sentinel Prime might be playing along the same book as the Transformers One version of the character. If you recall, he did betray the other Primes to sell Cybertron out to the Quintessons. And while we don’t see those tentacled beings here, the whole betrayal thing might be the same.
