During the last All Japan Model & Hobby Show, Bandai Hobby revealed, albeit in a cylindrical enclosure, the HG 1/100 VF-1J from the original Super Dimensional Fortress Macross and is being released as part of the franchise’s 45th anniversary celebration. At the time, we only saw the gray prototype in Battroid Mode but thanks to the fine folks at Hobby Japan, we now have the same gray prototype but in both Fighter and Gerwalk Modes.

Details are still sparse on this kit, but at least we have a rough (literally) idea of how it looks in all modes. The HG 1/100 VF-1J Valkyrie has the same Shortcut Change feature other HG 1/100 Macross kits have, allowing for seamless conversion between modes using replacement parts. And no, it you don’t need to disassemble almost the entirety of the kit, which also provides better stability and proportions when compared to its fully transformable counterparts.
