After completing the HG Gundam Naion, I was already dead set on a double build of the HGUC Gundam F91 with the VSBR-inspired weapons of the former. However, that changed upon seeing one of the recent trailers for Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, which I’ll show below.
The trailer ends with a reconstruction of the iconic Nu Gundam sequence seen in one of the Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack trailers. And given that I have a slew of Nu Gundam kits in the backlog, I might as well take one out and build it. For a kit released in 2008, the HGUC Nu Gundam is great, though there’s much more to be desired with the color separation. To address this, I spent a good chunk of two weeks prior painting these parts. These included the Fin Funnels and a good number of verniers spread all over the kit. I figured doing the paintwork ahead of the actual build would save me time when I’m actually putting the kit together.

And this turned out completely true as I just spent a couple of days in the actual build as seen here. The kit is more or less complete sans the New Hyper Bazooka, which also needed color-correction and I wasn’t able to include it during my initial painting session. I am also building this consequently around the time the Option Parts Set – Fin Funnels was being released so I am able to sort of compare how the HGUC version differs.
In any case, I should be done with this within the day or the next. I do have several options on hand, either I go with the HGUC Hi-Nu Gundam or go with my original plan with the HGUC Gundam F91. For the former, I need to purchase some waterslide decals so I might go ahead with the F91 double build. I will explain why I’m doing a double build once I start with it.
