Puttying and Painting: HGFC God Gundam – Work in Progress #1

I don’t exactly know how I came to picking the HGFC God Gundam as my next build. Probably because of the HGUC V2 Gundam and I guess building the mid-season upgrade Gundam for the next series (i.e., G Gundam) does make sense.

If you have any familiarity with this kit, then you know it has one of the most glaring cost-saving measures of any kit, making the red wings of the Core Fighter hollow. Having no experience using any putty doesn’t help, but I just decided to give it a go and following some sanding, I was able to cover them as seen here. This doesn’t mean I would do the same to all hollow parts, like the bottom of the feet for most High Grades, but I do have a couple of kits in mind that would benefit such gap-filling.

I also went and built the torso, which also needed some partial painting on the shoulder machine cannons and the Energy Multiplier on the chest. For the latter, you will need to paint the gear-shaped part in yellow and paint what should’ve been the jewel piece in either green or red. I did paint the part in yellow but instead of painting the center jewel, I went ahead and sanded it flat and stuck one of those 30MM 3D sticker sets.

Like the V2 Gundam, the HGFC God Gundam also has a lot of recessed areas and vents that would need black paint so I’ll go through those first before assembly. Other than those, I don’t expect any surprises from this kit. Though unlike the streak of eight or so kits before this guy, I’m taking things a bit slower but still targeting completion before the month ends.

Thoughts?
