I don’t usually cover Master Grade or 1/100 scale stuff on this blog, primarily because I don’t collect these lines. But that’s not the case for Gunpla Expo Tokyo 2020 as there are very interesting kits that they announced in this scale. Again, I’m not planning to get any of these but at least, they got me curious.

MG Gundam Mk-V
Yes, in what appears to be a plot twist on Bandai Spirits’ part, we are getting the MG Gundam Mk-V, albeit a Premium Bandai exclusive. I’m sure those hoping of MG Ver.2.0s of the GP01 or the Gundam Ground type would be sulky once again. In any case, the Gundam Mk-V is an antagonist mobile suit appearing in the photonovel Gundam Sentinel. It is the basis of what would be the Doven Wolf from Gundam ZZ as well as the Silver Bullet from Gundam UC. I’m not exactly sure what they’re planning with this release but it increases the possibility of the a Master Grade Silver Bullet given how anything Gundam UC is being made into a model nowadays. It’s still a great design nonetheless and would be perfect to accompany your MG S/Ex-S Gundams.

MG Ginn
Not forgetting Gundam SEED, they’re also doing the MG Ginn, what I consider to be the better looking grunt suit from the Cosmic Era. It follows the same aesthetic as previous MG Gundam SEED releases with those sharper angles and added surface details. Oh, and T.M.Revolution fans should definitely wait for the Miguel Aiman custom in his signature orange colors.

1/100 Calamity Gundam
We’re still in Gundam SEED but one appears out of nowhere. During the latter half of the series, we got three new Gundams from the Atlantic Federation / Blue Cosmos: the Forbidden, Calamity, and Raider Gundams. None of them got any kit in the 1/100 scale for the longest time so I’m quite surprised that Bandai Spirits decided to release the 1/100 Calamity Gundam. Take note that this is a standard 1/100 scale release (or “no grades” as some would call them) but will supposedly have the same level of surface detail as the modern Gundam SEED Master Grades. Personally, these should belong to the RE/100 line if this is the press release they’re going with as it definitely won’t fit the old 1/100 scale Gundam SEED line. But we’ll just have to wait until more details are released.

Oh, and let’s not forget the life-sized Freedom Gundam statue currently being built in China., Officially referred to as the Freedom Gundam Ver.SH, it is getting a 1/100 scale kit which is probably similar to the recent 1/100 RX-78F00 Gundam from Gundam Factory Yokohama in terms of engineering and detail. As for availability, it would definitely be an exclusive to the attraction being built in China. But you can always look at middleman services to get yours once it’s released.
