Continuing on the train of reveals that Bandai Spirits has made for Gunpla Expo Tokyo 2020, we’ll now focus on Real Grade kits. They might not be as many as the High Grades, which is totally expected, but the two next Real Grade kits are certainly not what you’d expect.

RG Hi-Nu Gundam
Some two years after the RG Nu Gundam, considered by many as one of the best from the line, they follow up with the RG Hi-Nu Gundam. To the unfamiliar, this is the mobile suit Amuro Ray uses in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack – Beltorchika’s Children, a novel written by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino and contained the original storyline pitched for Char’s Counterattack. The Hi-Nu Gundam is basically what the Nu Gundam is in that alternate story.
The Real Grade version is based on a modern redesign which made the Hi-Nu Gundam slimmer and uses blue for accent colors. You can compare this to the MG Ver.Ka and the Metal Robot Spirits versions which both use the original bulkier design. While I do have the RG Nu Gundam, with the box even signed by Katsumi Kawaguchi himself, I have yet to build it. But I assume given the praise that kit got that this one will be more or less of the same quality. Not to mention an eventual Premium Bandai HWS variant.

RG Wing Gundam
We’ve known, or at least assumed, for quite a while that Bandai Spirits’ intention was to make Real Grade versions of the Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz designs. We’ve had the Wing Gundam and Wing Gundam Zero, as well as all variants of the Tallgeese. We did get the TV version of the Tallgeese as a Premium Bandai exclusive, because it’s just a quick recolor. But no one expected to get a regular release of the Wing Gundam in it’s TV incarnation. Would this mean we’ll also get the Wing Zero as a Real Grade when they’re just about to complete the 5 original Gundams as High Grades? Not to mention, when are they going to release Real Grades of the 5 original Gundams in their Endless Waltz versions?
In any case, Gundam Wing fans and all the nostalgia it brings would have no problems getting this one.
