This is the continuation (and conclusion) to a post I made months ago after my last trip to Japan in an attempt to secure a copy of the event-exclusive S.H.Figuarts Iron Man Mark 22 “Hot Rod”. You can read that blog entry by clicking here.
I went to Japan last February to (1) finally visit Osaka as my previous visits were mostly Tokyo, and (2) go to the Marvel AGE OF HEROES Exhibition where I was planning to get a copy of the event-exclusive S.H.Figuarts Iron Man Mark 22 “Hot Rod”, something I was very optimistic I could get… and turned out the complete opposite as the figure was already sold out long before our trip. I also checked Mandarake every so often after coming back in hopes that the elusive figure would appear. Hint, it didn’t.
Well, my luck finally turned around as scouring some local Iron Man collectors Facebook groups led me to a seller who lives in Osaka and is selling this guy. Got it for the price I’d often see in the aftermarket and it finally arrived today, tightly packed and sealed inside its original shipping box. The figure is in great condition with the hot rod flame deco. It’s a retool and repaint of the War Machine Mark 2 figure the in-universe explanation puts it as a non-weaponized prototype. And like any other S.H.Figuarts Iron Man figure, it comes with replacement hands and effect parts.
Now to wait for their next Iron Legion armor figure, the Mark 20 “Python.”
