Last February, Takara Tomy via their T-Spark collector-oriented brand, announced a new line of Transformers figures called Transformers Overgear. They’re meant to be grittier and a more militaristic take on the Transformers characters we’re familiar with. Part of the official announcement were OG-01 Ironhide and OG-02 Blackout, with OG-03 Optimus Prime revealed as a gray CG render.
Come Shizuoka Hobby Show 2026, T-Spark finally gave a full color reveal and the color choices are interesting.

I was expecting a color scheme just like Ironhide or Blackout where everything is more muted with some highlights here and there. I guess they didn’t want to confuse Optimus with Nemesis Prime with those colors, so they went with something more aking to a Desert color scheme, mainly to replace the bright red, to complement the more muted shade of blue.

The desert camouflage is more apparent in the vehicle mode, coupled with the military styled decals and serial numbers. Although the front hood does have flame patterns that evoke his live-action movie design, but it’s all white since you can’t have shouting flame decos unless you want to expose yourself to the enemy. I also like how the weapons are properly mounted at the back of the vehicle mode to look like actual weapon placements.
On that note, the official Transformers social accounts also released cleaner images of the figure, although no solicitations or pre-orders have been opened.

Fortunately, the colors are not gaudy and they do make sense given the context of the setting. I will definitely put pre-orders once solicitations are up.
