Definitely my Last Build for 2025: Kurofune Co. 1/144 Gundam Ez8

I got the Kurofune Co. 1/144 “Easy 8” or the Gundam Ez8 from The 08th MS Team earlier this year. I won’t delve into the moral grey area of purchasing this kit, and as long as you can get one, then by all means. In any case, I’m still in the ‘figuring out’ stage of my new build workflow, but I did want to go beyond a simple flat topcoat build like the recent 30MM Altos. And I did want to clear this guy from the backlog.

I only managed to build the head and torso last Friday since I did some errands this weekend, and I will be out tomorrow, so the rest of the kit will be built as 2025 closes. But as far as the build goes, credit where credit is due since it’s not just your run-of-the-mill High Grade build and does feel more modern.

Color separation is good, though there are areas that would need touch ups. I already went ahead and painted some details, which is also a way to test my new painting setup…

Or at least when I intended to make this post before the New Year as I did make significant progress with this kit before the switch to 2026. Unfortunately, that also came with a quick tech issue, which was immediately averted, but ultimately prevented me from making the original post.

Anyway, the only remaining parts to build are the weapons and I must say, the overall build experience is great. Again, I’m not sure if these were all stolen from the original 3D printed design or something Kurofune improved upon. But at least the transition to model kit form is great. If they are going to release another kit, original sources aside, then I will definitely take a look before glossing over.

With that, my 2025 build log comes to a close. I’ve yet to count how many kits I was able to complete but I do feel making more progress in 2025 compared to the previous years. I’m hoping to continue on this momentum in 2026 so watch out for those updates. I will also make a quick build throwback on my socials but in case you’re curious, you can just check out the posts under the “Work in Progress” tag.

Thoughts?
