My backlog journey has once again made a stop on the front porch of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE, and today’s agenda is to complete the Gundam AGE-3 variants. I’ve built both the AGE-3 Normal and Orbital in late 2021/early 2022, which just leaves me with the Gundam AGE-3 Fortress. That said, I’m doing a custom color scheme for this particular build.
Barring the AGE-FX, the ordinal AGE units (AGE-1/2/3) have multiple configurations using interchangeable “Wears” and their design range cover a wide spectrum. That said, those that appear in the anime aren’t on the crazy side and often stick to the Gundam tri-color scheme. Well, except for the AGE-3 Fortress which goes dark purple for those massive arm and leg units. Given that AGE-3 Normal is the obvious neutral (albeit more blue), and AGE-3 Orbital leans towards red, it makes sense if I repaint the dark purple of the AGE-3 Fortress to the vanilla Gundam blue.

My go-to paint for the standard Gundam blue is Mr. Color Cobalt Blue and it’s almost indistinguishable to the blue plastic of the AGE-3. Fortunately for me, these blue parts don’t have intricate colored details outside of separate yellow vent parts so painting them should be straightforward. The rest of the build should be also straightforward since this is the third AGE-3 variant I’m building and I’m still aware of the nuances of the kit. I won’t make any promises on finishing the build earlier but I will definitely try.
