They’re Okay, I Guess? HG Gundam Zirius – Double Build Complete

I was supposed to post this yesterday, but AWS did its thing and impacted a whole chunk of the internet, including Flickr where I host these blog images. Anyway, I was able to finish the double build for HG Gundam Zirius and they’re okay. Not mind-blowing nor utter disappointments, just okay.

For starters, the kit really benefits modern High Grade engineering to allow proper color separation for most of the body, especially on the head and torso units. You do need to paint the yellow Vulcans on the head but for the most part, they’re color accurate. I say the most part since the back of the legs, and most of the hardpoints will need paint. Yellow trim and black for the rear leg thrusters and gray for the hardpoints.

What sort of soured my taste on this kit are the shoulder and hip joints. I already mentioned how tight they are out of the box and those looking at building this kit should consider sanding them a little. I’m looking at the fully armored version and I am wondering how much articulation we can get from this kit, especially on the legs given the tight joints and all the armor attached to them.

Regardless, it does look good, especially if you keep it in a certain pose and not man-handle it like an action figure. I did keep the armor parts for the copy I built in the Light Armor configuration since they do appear to be molded to be combined with yet-to-be released parts, but that’s just my assumption.

I have decided to follow this up with the HG Gundam AGE-3 Fortress, a relatively easy build and completes my Gundam AGE-3 trifecta once done.

Thoughts?
