Following my allusion to this double build a couple of times previously, I have finally started with the HG Gundam Zirius from Mobile Suit Gundam Eight. I am doing a double build to have separate kits for both the standard and light armor configurations.
I’ve just built the torso and head units as seen here, but as far as parts separation goes, I am definitely impressed. Outside of the green metallic sensor bits and the yellow Vulcans on the head, everything else is properly separated parts.
That’s not saying there’s no need for color-correction on this kit. In fact, planning for the rest of the build reveals the painting needed for the rear leg thrusters and the hardpoints. Though I’ll just paint the hardpoints for the Light Armor build since these are covered in the standard form. Apart from these I’m not seeing any further detail painting needed which should hopefully speed up completion.
