SuperManila Comic Con 2025 happened over the recent weekend and for their sophomore event, it has really improved when compared to their first back in 2024. I wasn’t able to go in Day 1 since I didn’t expect tickets to sell out and I was hoping to buy on site. But I was able to get in Day 2 and took some photos.
And yes, I did get some loot.
First, I went to the Bandai Hobby booth where several upcoming kits were on display, both regular retail and exclusive items such as the RG RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam (Ver. 2.0) and the HG Gundam Naion from Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury: Vanadis Heart. I will place the kit shown in the official solicitation for comparison purposes, and see if any additional paint is needed.
It appears that the kit is going to be largely color accurate outside the box, which is always appreciated for someone like me. I’m hoping for the same for those orange vent-like details on the binders. In any case, I appreciate having the first hand look at this kit ahead of its release later this month.
Afterwards, I roamed around and just took photos of anything I found interesting.
Most of these were taken from the Good Smile Company or Kotobukiya booths. There was also a large Pop Mart booth though I’m not the biggest fan of their products or the aesthetic they’re going for.
As for loot, I got a couple. First is yet another HG Gundam Exia which I’m going to build as the Gundam Devise Exia. The other is this guy…
Months after its released, I finally got my hands on the HG Red Gundam, a kit I previously ordered but decided to cancel since we are getting the HG White Gundam in December. But after seeing some Japanese modelers doing this guy in the G3 colors, I kind of wanted to do the same. I was particularly inspired by the build below.
The repaint is going to be a straight color swap with the salmon-red of the main body for light gray or off-white and the deeper red by some shade of purple I haven’t picked yet. I’m also aware how masking this kit is quite the challenge, which is why I’m getting those pre-cut masks online. Hopefully those should make this task much easier.
This kit then adds to my several options for my next build(s):
- HG Gundam AGE-3 Fortress
- HG Gundam AGE-FX
- HG Gundam Zilius [Standard & Light Armor]
- HG Red Gundam [E.F.S.F. G-3]
- HG Gundam Devise Exia
- HG Delta Zayin, MS & WR Modes
I’m still inclined to do the AGE-3 Fortress or the Zilius, but I do intend to build this guy within the year, ahead of the HG White Gundam in December.
