Finally completed my double build of the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam from 2025 (or the revive one) and they turned out the way I expected. Quite the anticlimactic heading but that’s the basic intent, especially with the “Patchwork” custom I did with the Builders Parts HD – MS Armor 01 set.
To recap, I built the vanilla RX-78-2 Gundam in response to the finale of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX where, spoiler alert, the Gundam becomes the last boss. The other Gundam is what I call the “Patchwork Armor” using the MS Armor 01 set. I didn’t do anything crazy and just follow the recommended placement of the armor panels. I just painted them in dark blue, in the same way I’ll paint a Full Armor Gundam kit once they do one in the HGUC line.
You can imagine it as a field repair and armor reinforcement for the Gundam, using armor panels meant to fix the bulkheads of the White Base. It’s not meant to look the prettiest but this is a function over form repair.
Now that these guys are done, I can return to my original plan of building the the HG 00 Raiser and HG 00 Qan[T], which I started yesterday.
