It’s as if my choice to build the High Grade kits from Heavy Metal L-Gaim is perfectly timed as 2025 is apparently the 40th anniversary of the series.
I don’t think the anniversary would get as much fanfare as Gundam, but at least my builds for these kits are well timed. Speaking of which…
Following my previous update, I’ve more or less completed building the main body, including the Land Booster backpack unit. Some parts needed painting for color accuracy as the design is mostly white. That said, being an older kit meant encountering some pieces that you don’t see in modern releases. Case in point, both the saber handle and the Buster Launcher trigger grip are molded with the hands/manipulators that hold them, so some intricate masking would be needed. Fortunately for me, I have a bottle of Mr. Masking Sol handy for such cases. Apart from these, I would just need to build the Power Launcher and the Buster Launcher and I’m done with this kit.
As for my next kit, I wanted to say that I’m teasing the Realize Model 1/100 Blade Liger in the photo above, which will be my first Takara Tomy model kit. Or I can always pivot and push with another Mamoru Nagano-designed machine, the ‘revive’ HGUC Zeta Gundam. I will also follow up this build with the HG L-Gaim Mk-II once it’s delivered.
