To “Quacks” or not to “Quacks?” HG Gundam EX – Completed Build

For complete transparency, I would’ve completed this kit last week if not for me just being tuckered out whenever I arrive from work last week. I would’ve been able to nudge in a couple of hours to work on a kit daily but once I lie on the bed after dinner, I just doom scroll until falling to sleep. So, I should probably stop that to maximize my remaining hours of the day. But regardless, the kit is now done!

The only things I had to build yesterday were the shield and beam rifle. I was taken aback by what I thought was significant masking effort on the shield, but it just took me one round and it was done. These were mostly on the white sections at the back of the shield. It didn’t help that the manual doesn’t really show it clearly, so technically there’s no truly accurate way to paint it. For the beam rifle, it’s just the scope that needs that typical yellow coat but otherwise, it’s a straightforward assembly.

Overall, this kit is quite different from your typical High Grade, both on the engineering and the sheer amount of sculpted detail. If this thing had an internal frame, then you might as well call it a Real Grade. This definitely proves the significant range High Grades can have, that’s why I prefer collecting them over Real Grades or Master Grades. But that’s just my personal preference.

With this kit done, I can finally build the HG GQuuuuuuX, or the “quacks” as I refer in the title. I am still waiting for the Delpi Decals for this kit to be available locally, but at least I can start doing the prep work as all those details will need quite the painting, especially the back of the shield. More of how I approach that kit once I actually start the build itself.

Thoughts?
