Box Art Extravaganza: January 2025

I just made a post of the stuff I got this month, but there also are box arts released this month, and I think there’s only one I’m interested in getting.

No, I’m not getting the HG ChoRyuJin, I perfer my super robot kits non-transforming. In any case, this is sort of a follow up to the RG GaoGaiGar released two years ago and I can imagine we’ll get all sorts of these “symmetrical docking” High Grades since there’s quite a number of them. As for the packaging, it’s simple in the sense that there are no borders or lower thirds for the names, just stylized text.

Since I didn’t cover this kit when it was announced, here’s a quick look of that you’ll get inside the package. It will come with fully functioning HyoRyu and EnRyu kits, each having their own instruction manuals. Then, they are able to do the whole symmetrical docking process to form ChoRyuJin, and this is where my curiosity is, but not enough to buy one. I assume this transformation will involve a mix of actual conversion and using replacement parts. I will definitely check out reviews on how this is done.

Another kit I won’t be buying is the HGCE Z’Gok (SEED FREEDOM Ver.), I’m just including it here because Bandai Spirits did set up a vote to determine what the packaging art for this kit will be. The scene where it moves among the smoke mimicking the original Z’Gok won. And while I don’t think they are able to engineer a full Infinite Justice Gundam Type II inside, this kit comes with a mockup of its torso inside. You can also put the actual torso of the HG Infinite Justice Type II in the same cavity.

The one kit I actually pre-ordered, but cancelled for one reason or another is MODEROID Black Sarena from Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness. I have the MODEROID Aestivalis Ground Battle Frame in my backlog and it makes sense to get this kit as well. While it’s currently listed as discontinued over at HLJ, I’m pretty sure it will turn up somewhere, possible cheaper.
