Let’s say that I wasn’t expecting this much progress for my HGAW Gundam Double X build within a week after I formally started building it. But I managed to make great progress as you can see below.
Following my initial work in progress post, I decided to go ahead and build the lower half of the mobile suit. The build itself is fairly standard though as expected for a 2013 kit, there are areas that will require paint. Chief among these are the yellow vent areas, particularly those in the feet. I was initially thinking of just using the panel line Gundam Marker for the black recessed area but that didn’t work as I intended. So, I decided to do some precision masking and I am satisfied with how they looked.
Still on the feet, the top part is molded in all white though it has several colors that needed paint. Besides the aforementioned vents, there are mechanical details, mainly the piston-like ones in the front and the rear of the feet that should be gray. Same goes for the center part of the lower half of the foot.
All that’s left are the weapons, and the main Satellite Cannons themselves. The Beam Rifle is molded in white and a good portion of it should be in the same dark navy blue as the rest. While the Satellite Cannons have details that should be in gray. They’re not the most difficult of paint jobs but they will require masking.
If I’m also able to finish this kit earlier than planned, then I might be able to proceed with the Mighty Strike Freedom builds.
