One (Almost) Done, Three to Go: HGUC V2 Gundam Quad-Build – Work in Progress #1

As I mentioned last week, I’m cleansing my model-building palette following five ‘SEED’ kit builds by doing almost the same number of HGUC kits. And when I say almost the same number, I also meant almost the same kit.

I will be building the HGUC Victory Two Gundam and all its variations so it makes sense that I first build a vanilla unit to see what I need to do for prep work and others. The good news is that it’s mostly a straight forward build with few color-inaccurate areas. Most notable being the rear of the Wings of Light emitters that should be in yellow. The rest are vents/recessed areas that should be in black. That said, there are a lot of such areas that should be in black. So, I’m making the most of the time spent masking these parts by doing the same across the other copies that would require the same.

Since I’m also building both the Assault and Assault Buster variations, I did some quick research on the gold paint I wanted to use. I’m primarily using spray cans so the selection isn’t the widest. After testing on several spoons, I decided to just go with Tamiya’s normal gold as it looks good both by itself or with matte top coat. To summarize, my focus this week is to get this kit done, including the Core Fighter, and prep the parts for the three other kits.
