The challenge in building multiple copies of the same model kit is that you need to do the same work as many times as many copies you intend to build. For a casual or “weekend modeler” like me, that mostly involves painting details for color accuracy, and you might think that for an online exclusive like the HGUC Phantom Gundam, that would be quite a nightmare — which is fitting with the October Halloween theme but you get the idea.
Fortunately for me though, and after studying the kit way ahead before I started building, the key areas that I do need to repeat four times only involve the rear hip armors. I guess this is an advantage thanks to the simplistic way the Crossbone Gundam manga panels are drawn.

I went ahead and painted the rear “skirt armors” for MS and MA modes. I’m currently building the MS modes today and the paint in these parts is enough. But I do need to apply additional gray paint on the parts the legs attach to in MA mode for consistency. But regardless, what I think is the most difficult part in this build is done and I am targeting to complete the MS forms within this weekend. But I don’t want to jinx myself so we’ll see.
