The Super Robot Chogokin line is one of my favorites from Tamashii Nations simply because they’re essentially Soul of Chogokin figures at a more manageable size minus all the finicky transformation and combination gimmicks. Unfortunately, Tamashii Nations sort of decided put the line on hold and instead went with the Soul of Chogokin Full Action figures. So it is a surprise to me when Art Storm announced the Mini Action Series, a line of figures at manageable sizes which still has the transformation and combination gimmicks expected from their larger counterparts.
Standing at 150 mm each, these would definitely fit in my collection! Their initial offerings are also similar to the first wave of Soul of Chogokin Full Action figures — Combattler V, Voltes V, and Daimos. Based on these solicitation images, both Combattler V and Voltes V can separate into their vehicle components while Daimos can transform into its Tranzor mode. I’m not really sure if it’s perfect transformation or through parts replacement but they do look good. Another question would be their poseability when combined/transformed. Especially for Daimos as it’s primarily uses melee-based combat moves.
Regardless, these look really interesting and in fact, I already preordered all three. It also helps that these are relatively cheap figures, running at ¥3,500 each. Though do note that these don’t contain any die cast parts which would jack up the price if they did.
