The Fall 2026 anime season is probably one of the best for mecha fans within the last couple of years as four notable mecha series will premiere. I’ll likely write a quick post on that specific topic, but one of the shows dropping this week is the 2026 adaptation of Magic Knight Rayearth. Good Smile Company has produced kits for the original 1994 anime under their MODEROID brand and I was hoping we’ll get an announcement that they’ll do the same for the 2026 versions.
And during the hobby show last weekend, we did get the announcement. Official art of the Rune Gods/Mashin were also revealed so we can do a comparison of how the designs would translate to model kits.

At the moment, only gray prototypes were shown, but they still provide visual confirmation of the amount of detail the 2026 versions have. Compared to the original which I’ll show below, the new versions are more ornate and have more flourishes.

How all these complex decorative elements would translate to the MODEROID kit is the definite point of discussion. And it might actually be the deciding factor whether folks will pick or pass up on this kit, myself included. Given that some MODEROID kits come with pre-painted parts, I will pray to the plamo gods that these flourishes will get the same treatment. It will be a very tall order to mask these areas for painting, and the next best option are likely decals.
Gray prototypes for Ceres and Windom were also revealed, as seen below.

Besides these gray prototypes, no other information were revealed, though I will keep a close watch as information on these kits drop.
