I was just about to make a post about the gray prototype preview for the next “The Round Table Knights” kit from SNAA, the BE 1/144 Thunderstorms Mordred. But right I was writing it, went ahead and released colored test shots, and this kit looks feral.
Mordred continues the trend started with their previous release, Bedivere, of these machines leaning on the more animalistic aesthetic. While it’s not as glaring or obvious as a lion head sitting dead center on your chest, there are hints when seeing these profile views of Mordred. It does have the same white-blue-gold color scheme that some were starting to get tired with. But I’m all for the visual consistency.
In its basic form (if you can call this basic) Mordred comes with the Thunder-Breaking Spear and the Lightning-Attracting Hammer. Thus the “thunderstorms” moniker, and this probably the closest analogue they have to Thor and Mjolnir from Norse Mythology.
Mordred then undergoes an upgrade where it gets a new form. These enhancements come in the form of pair of Ionized Wind-Thunder Wings and Flash-Thunder Claws replacing the original feet.
It might be a melee machine, but all those lightning bolts and added mobility will definitely make it an all-range attacker that you don’t want to mess with.
Here is everything that comes with BE Thunderstorms Mordred and I want to say it’s a bit toned down compared to the more ridiculous sets that were released previously. This is a welcome change, especially coming from Bedivere which currently holds the record for the largest package in the line.
BE 1/144 Thunderstorms Mordred is the 10th release from The Round Table Knights lineup, which means we are just left with one, at least based on the widely accepted count. And while I’m not expecting SNAA to fudge another release in the final months of 2026 following this kit, I won’t be surprised if they do.
Ultimately, and I’ve been telling this myself every time they announce a new kit, I should probably start building these guys.
