This Kit is Hype! HG Gundam Naion from “Vanadis Heart”

May 2025 saw the announcement of the HG Gundam Naion from Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury: Vanadis Heart and almost immediately everyone gravitated towards the design. I’ve included the colored line art below in case you need a refresher.

After a couple of months, solicitations have opened via Premium Bandai, unfortunate yet expected, and let’s say that good thing I was able to secure a pre-order before selling out after mere seconds.

I’ve yet to read Vanadis Heart and I don’t have a clue what role Gundam Naion is playing in the story. It is described as “The Gundam that stands as humanity’s salvation” so it sort of has that superiority complex going on. Regardless of how the story plays, this definitely falls under ‘peak’ design as folks nowadays would describe it.

While Gundam Naion doesn’t come from the Vanadis Institute nor the Gundam Lfrith design lineage, it does share several common elements. Outside of the shell units, there are lots of fins/grill-like sections on the shoulders, legs, and at the back. The overall white colors with splashes of blue and dark yellow or gold also give it a very regal appearance.

For melee weapons, Gundam Naion has beam sabers and the Alternable Bayonetta, the latter of which, I assume, also acts as a ranged weapon. You can also see the great range of movement and articulation that would lend to better dynamic poses.

Then there’s the “Vajra” (I’m waiting for the proper English spelling of these), which are underslung cannon similar to the VSBRs of Gundam F91. Each is connected to the rear of the hip assembly via armatures to provide articulation for all sorts of cannon pointing and poses.

It won’t be a Gundam without GUND-Bits, and for Gundam Naion, each Vajra acts as storage for three GUND-BIts, which are also called “Rinkou,” giving a total of six.

As expected, Bandai Spirits would like you to keep buying those Witch from Mercury Display Bases to prop up each GUND-Bit as shown here.

Here’s everything that comes with HG Gundam Naion and it might not have much, but the design itself really makes up for it. So much so that my socials feed are really hyped for this kit. Unfortunately, this is a Premium Bandai exclusive so be ready to utilize your preferred middleman service, or be ready to click that order button very quickly as kits like these sell out in seconds.
