During the recently concluded Shizuoka Hobby Show, Bandai Spirits revealed the gray prototype for the new Gundam appearing in Gundam the Witch from Mercury: Vanadis Heart. And now, we have the official English name along with a better look, including colors!
Reintroducing the Gundam Naion in it’s full color glory, and designed by Wataru Inata who also did Gundam Pharact. For starters, the Naion and Pharact can’t be anymore different so props to Wataru Inata for the diverse designs. Then we have the colors, which are generally white with splashes of blue and yellow/gold. An interesting observation I’ve read online is how many agree that the color scheme has some semblance with Gaia Gear α, hailing from Yoshiyuki Tomino’s now Gundam-adjacent Gaia Gear novels.
Prior to Gundam Naion, the Gundams from Vanadis Heart are mostly variants or derivatives of Gundam Lfrith, so it will be interesting to know the story behind this guy. As for the HG kit, we’ll likely get more information once the pre-orders drop over at Premium Bandai.
