Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025: HG PTX-08R Huckebein… and Some Speculations

Still on Shizuoka Hobby Show 2025 and Bandai Spirits’ High Grades, there is one more kit that really got my attention. It’s not Gunpla and is more of Gundam-adjacent. I’m talking about the Huckebein from the Super Robot Wars franchise and we’re finally getting a kit of it. They have previously released HG kits of the Huckebein Mk-II, Mk-III, both AM Gunner and AM Boxer (as Huckebein Boxer), and even the Huckebein Mk-II Trombe. They obviously left the Mk-I or the original Huckebein and I always have some speculations.

First is that when the HG Huckebein Mk-II was released, Tamashii Nations was still doing rounds with the Metal Robot Spirits Huckebein and I bet neither Bandai Spirits Hobby nor Collector divisions don’t want their products competing with each other. Second is something I’m made recently aware though this post by Super Robot Wars supervisor Takanobu Terada over at X.

Through the power of Google Lens, here’s a rudimentary translation of the notes he placed.

Essentially, the Huckebein has several variants and Bandai Spirits can opt to release a kit for each, hence making sense for the Huckebein to be released last after the Mk-II and Mk-III.

The name card below this display sample mentions the kit as the HG Huckebein (PTX-08R), which is the first (i.e., light blue) variant from The 4th Super Robot Wars game in 1995. You can see how the front hip armor doesn’t have the white pinstripe segment at the lower portion that the PTX-008L/R variants have. I’m inclined to believe they’re going to milk this mold and release several variations, so we’ll likely see the Titans-inspired variant to match the Mk-II and Mk-III.

Other than this single gray prototype, we also have a release date for this kit, and it’s not Premium Bandai unlike some of the others.
