I know some consider it a sin to not build the RG Nu Gundam in 2024, so I already took mine out of the storage to get it built soon, hopefully. This is also the reason why Bandai Spirits appears to be doing a variation of this kit every year. Last year, they released the First Lot version just several days after I left Fukuoka which was a total bummer. Fortunately, it was just a recolor and I did get the Gundam Fanclub exclusive HGUC version during the same trip. This year, they are releasing more than just a recolor with the RG Nu Gundam [Double Fin Funnel Type].
First shown on display during this year’s All-Japan Model & Hobby Show, this configuration of the Nu Gundam came from the Char’s Counterattack MSV design series and has the right-mounted beam saber rack removed in favor of a second fin funnel rack, allowing it to carry a maximum of 12 funnels. This kit only comes with the same six as the original release.
Outside the different funnel storage configuration, the kit also has several armor differences to the original, which were also based on the MSV illustration. These include a slightly different head unit with a more standard double-slit on the face plate and non-grilled side vents, new shoulder armor with thrusters you can swing outwards, and different chest vents coupled with new front skirt armor.
For weapons, it comes with a slightly different set based on the MSV illustration, including the beam rifle and shield. I believe it comes with the same hyper bazooka and the removal of the beam saber storage rack at the back meant that it can only use the smaller one that’s stored in the left forearm.

Either I’ll wait for my return trip to Japan in 2025 to get myself one of these, or do my usual aftermarket hunt over at Buyee. They do mention that to prevent scalpers from getting this kit, they will require buyers to be The Gundam Base members. Not that it will prevent scalping but I guess that’s an effort.
Regardless, I do need to start building these RG Nu Gundam kits.
