The big box that is the HGCE Destiny Gundam Spec II & Zeus Silhouette set was just released in Japan and mine is already on its way from the fine folks over at HobbyLink Japan (yes, sponsored). I’ve been browsing through online reviews while waiting for my copy to arrive and one thing about this kit really sticks out: that particular shade of green used on the internals of the silhouette.
I decided to open Photoshop and played with some sliders to change the green parts to this muted shade of blue. I know the green does complement the dark yellow barrel parts, but this blue should look better when docked with the Destiny Gundam Spec II. It also goes well with the colder colors of the light gray parts. Consequently, the CG renders used for the initial reveal used a darker shade of green that can be easily considered as gray. a much easier option I can also go with the color swap.
I didn’t do the same for the Zeus Silhouette when docked with the Destiny Gundam Spec II, but I do think it should look better to me as well. With this kit out, I think I’m done with any SEED FREEDOM-related purchases, unless they announce something new for SEED FREEDOM ZERO, which they’ll likely do.
