Not Just the AM Boxer, it’s the HG Hückebein Boxer

When Bandai Spirits announced the HG Hückebein Mk-III to follow the Mk-II, it was only a matter of time before they released the Hückebein Boxer in some form. They followed up the Mk-III with the HG AM Gunner so many assumed they were going to do the same with the AM Boxer. But in Bandai Spirits’ infinite wisdom, they decided to not just do the AM Boxer, but an entire HG Hückebein Boxer kit.

To those unfamiliar, the Hückebein Boxer is formed with the combination of the Hückebein Mk-III and the AM Boxer module. This form is primarily meant for close combat with its increased strength, armor, and melee weaponry. The Hückebein Boxer has been referred to as a miniature (in some sense) version of the SRX but with higher versatility and better energy consumption.

As this set is the HG Hückebein Boxer, you are getting another copy of the Hückebein Mk-III if you get this kit. I’m not so sure why Bandai Spririts decided to do this bundle, but if you already have the Mk-III, then you might want to have plans on the extra copy coming with this set. You are able to remove the Mk-III from the AM Boxer and they even provide a stand to display them separately.

Or if you’re quite knowledgeable with SRW lore, then you can consider the vanilla HG Mk-III kit as the Mk-III Type L and this one as the Mk-III Type R, since the latter doesn’t come with the Graviton Rifle or the Multi-Trace Missiles.

Yes, each digit will be articulated and special parts will be included for the Geist Knuckle attack.

This kit is quite massive at 230mm and it needs to balance stability while at the same time, maintaining a good range of articulation. I don’t expect this kit to do high flying kicks, although it appears to do so in the image above. They also mention how it can still have a mid-torso swivel by detaching the locking points that hold the upper and lower halves of the AM Boxer together. Ultimately, this means the articulation and stability of the kit is handled by that one waist ball joint on the Mk-III. I haven’t built my copy but I do hope that joint is strong enough to handle those massive halves.

The SRX would do a better job handling it as a sword.

The AM Boxer unit can also transform into the Graviry Sword form the Mk-III is able to hold, with the use of the included display stand. You can also prop the Hückebein Mk-III on top, again with the help of supporting parts, to replicate the “G Sword Diver” attack.

Lastly, if you have the AM Gunner kit, it has parts to facilitate the “Full Impact Cannon” attack along with the Hückebein Boxer. This, or at least a very similar version, was seen in the series Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspectors but with the Exbein instead of the Hückebein Mk-III.

Having missed the older Kotobukiya kit, I would really like to get my hands on this one, along with the newer, and hopefully, better engineering. Unfortunately, it’s Premium Bandai so I’ll probably need to get into some hoops to secure a copy. And of course, we are getting another Mk-III kit included which inflates the price to its current SRP. So, let’s see.
