Mobile Suit Gundam made its premiere in April of 1979, making 2024 the 45th anniversary of the franchise. Subsequent Gundam series followed suit, having premieres in April before the more recent practice of starting in October. That said, we did another April premiere last year with the second half of Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury. It subverted a lot of franchise tropes, including the main protagonist Gundam turning out to be the final boss, resulting in the introduction of an even more powerful mobile suit to match.
