At the start of the July, Tamashii Nations slipped up a quick reveal of The Robot Spirits <Side SUPER> UFO Robot Grendizer over at Japan Expo 2025 in Paris. I mentioned how making this the next <Side SUPER> release makes sense given the Grendizer U figures last year and folks who would want to compare that version of Grendizer with the original.

If you’re familiar with Grendizer, then you should be very familiar of how it looks, and this figure is a very faithful representation of the design. In fact, let me put the Grendizer U version below to see how their differences are basically rudimentary.

Minor differences aside, I do notice the choice of making the legs much longer, which is something I first saw in the Soul of Chogokin D.C. (or Dynamic Classics) version. Especially when compared to the Super Robot Chogokin as seen below.

Speaking of which, I still intend on getting the Super Robot Chogokin version with the Spazer since the super robots in my collection mostly belong in this line. I’m not sure if Tamashii Nations intends to redo them under the <Side SUPER> banner, but let’s just cross that bridge when we get there.

Besides the proportions another difference between this version and the Grendizer U figure, as well as the Super Robot Chogokin, is the use of clear parts for the crest on its torso that also show hexagon patters underneath.

Articulation is probably, if not totally similar, to the Grendizer U version and the figure is able to replicate all the signature poses Grendizer has been seen in the original series.

In addition to its articulation, you’re provided with various display options with the included weapons and accessories. Besides the closed fists and weapon-holding manipulators, Grendizer also comes with a pair of splayed ones. Replacement parts are also included for the Screw Crusher Punch where the forearm blades flip forward and cover the fists.

And of course, it won’t be a Grendizer figure if not for the Harkens, blades that shoot our from the shoulders to form bladed weapons. Parts are included to form either the Single Harkens, which can be wielded at the same time, or as one Double Harken.

This release commemorates the 50th anniversary of the original UFO Robot Grendizer series and it is described as a bold reproduction of the design as seen 50 years ago. That said, I am more curious of what the future <Side SUPER> releases would be. Will they be a repeat of everything they already have as part of the Super Robot Chogokin line, which I am much a fan? Speaking of which, I still intend on tracking the Super Robot Chogokin version of Grendizer and its Spazer.
