Today’s the last day of June, which means today’s the last day I’m able to make this post, at least using this title. I know it’s already July, and I apparently forgot to click “publish” when I finished writing this, so go figure. The overarching theme for this last month is “missed pre-orders” although I believe I can catch this on local retail, albeit with local retail prices.

I’ve mentioned this previously, but as much as I like the designs from Mashin Souzouden/Creator Wataru, I really haven’t caught up with the series. So much so that we now have, what I think, is the final form of Ryujinmaru with Saint-Ryuohmaru.

The design harkens back to Ryuohmaru from the 80s series, with the white, black, and gold color scheme. And as a modern mecha design, it has doses of clear parts, and the kit definitely has those. There’s also a very prominent triple-ring wing assembly that provides additional flair, although it doesn’t seem to be articulated based on how its mounted on the back.

Like the other kits in the line, parts are still interchangeable if you want to create your own Mashin. Not sure if it happens in the series but hey, it’s your kit, do whatever you wish with it.

First of the two kits I missed the pre-order window is Balam Industries’ Melander. And while I’m not the biggest Armored Core fan, I have found myself inclined to appreciate more neutral designs, like this guy.

Some will find the monotonous design bland and boring, but to me, it comes across as very utilitarian and practical as far as armored core units go. The same is true with the other Armored Core VI kit I’m planning to get as seen below.

At least there’s some consistency in my preferred aesthetic with these kits.

The second of two kits I missed pre-ordering, and I have equally less knowledge on, is the Ashsaviour from Super Robot Wars Original Generation. It might not be as popular as the Cybaster or the Huckebein units, but I still like the design for being on the relatively simpler side.

While the design is relatively simply, the Ashsaviour is notable for its remote weapons, the Sword Breakers. Fortunately for us, SRW kits do include dedicated display bases, and Ashsaviour even comes with ones specific for the Sword Breaker units. I really wish they do the same for Gunpla, though I guess they expect Gunpla builders to buy display bases.

And yes, it’s already July.
