Quickie! T-Spark Zone 2025: Synergenex Macross 7/Transformers Basara Prime

Transformers fans have a better tendency to appreciate and become Macross fans more than they would become Gundam fans due to the whole transformation aspect of both franchises. So, it would make sense for something like the Synergenex Macross 7/Transformers Basara Prime to come out of Takara Tomy and its collector-oriented T-Spark brand. After a previous tease, we now have a glimpse of the collaboration item as T-Spark Zone 2025 is currently having this weekend, and a gray prototype of the figure is on display.

So it’s definitely an Optimus Prime design, with some bits of Nekki Basara’s Fire Valkyrie thrown in places. Most notable on the shoulders and the collar parts being the exhausts of the Fire Valkyrie. We can also see parts of the wings wrapping up the legs, which is a transformation scheme we’ve seen in some Transformers releases. I’m trying to figure out if the details behind the classic Optimus Prime window pectorals are something from Fire Valkyrie or something. But overall, the figure does look good.

Of course, we won’t forget the guitar Basara Prime is playing over here. For one, the hands appear to have articulated digits since the figure needs to look like it can actually hold and play the guitar. Speaking of the guitar, it is a good approximation of the one Basara uses in Macross 7, except that it’s sculpted with Matrix of Leadership details. For reference, here’s what the original guitar looks like.

Unfortunately, they didn’t show the figure transformed to its alternate mode. Actually, I’m curious what its alternate mode would be since Synergenex Liolæus/Rathalos Prime transforms into, well, Rathalos. So Basara Prime would transform into the Fire Valkyrie? We’ll have to see but for one, I’ll just include another shot of the figure in top view where we also see the nosecone section of the Fire Valkyrie folded up.

Synergenex Macross 7/Transformers Basara Prime is slated for release in Winter 2025.
