Still the Giga Chad of all Mecha: MODEROID Chamber

Suisei no Gargantia or Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet may be a decade old as of this post, but I’m pretty sure most fans of the genre won’t forget it for the amazing story, characters, and Chamber — the giga chad of all mecha. If you watched the last episode, then you’ll know what I’m tallking about. With the series not exactly the heaviest in terms of mecha-to-mecha combat, there’s not much merchandise of Chamber out there.

Good Smile Company did release Chamber as part of their now-defunct Good Smile Arms line. But that figure was quite expensive and too large to fit in my collection. Several years after and Good Smile Company is taking a swing once again, this time aiming at the mecha model kit builder demographic with MODEROID Chamber and fortunately for me, it’s a lot cheaper and will definitely fit within my collection preferences.

Chamber stands at 150mm, and is perfect for my collection as mentioned, and comes with all the accessories seen in the series. We’ll go into those later but one thing to note about the design is how the colors are distributed. It’s mostly black with white and orange highlights and pinstripes. And when you say pinstripes, you either do it with color-correcting stickers or waterslide decals, the latter much preferred by many. Fortunately for us, the kit will include a decal sheet for this purpose so you better get those tweezers ready.

Chamber comes with all sorts of weapons as any Machine Caliber would. These include the Pinion Halberd, Beam Rifle, Gatling Gun and two Missile Launchers. The other key accessories are effect parts and a display stand to display Chamber during flight. And while the proportions may be a little different from the usual. these shouldn’t provide poseability and articulation issues. Combining these with the aforementioned accessories and you should have multiple options for this kit.

And of course, the Chamber can purge the cockpit section located at the top of the head as seen in the series. In case you’ve forgotten, Chamber got its giga-chad status when it decided to let its pilot, Ledo, live a normal life while Chamber finishes off the final villain.

To be completely honest, I was considering getting this kit when it was first revealed in one of the previous Mecha Smile Impact events, only to be disswayed by its potential size. But seeing that it’s at 150mm, roughly the same as my other kits despite being non-scale, is enough reason for me to reconsider getting one. Hopefully the build will be a pleasant experience, especially with all the decals that are needed.
