Box Art Extravaganza: “Fires of Rubicon” Edition

We’re already a little more than halfway through September, and while there’s no Gunpla release I’m particularly interested in, there are non-Gunpla kits I am interested in. Unfortunately, I had to cancel my pre-orders on these kits, but I believe I’m still able to get them locally. I’m talking about the 30 Minute Missions Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon kits which will be released this week. Which also means we now have the packaging design for this subline.

30MM Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon RaD CC-2000 Orbiter NIGHTFALL / Raven
September 21, 2024 / ¥3,500
Order from HobbyLink Japan

30MM Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon Schneider Nachtreiher/40E STEEL HAZE / V.IV Rusty
September 21, 2024 / ¥3,500
Order from HobbyLink Japan

The packaging follows the same design layout as your standard 30 Minute Missions kit, albeit with a darker colors to reflect the grittier nature of the game. They are also rated for ages 8+, which makes me wonder if we’ll see some semblance of safety flags which we see in HG Gunpla, also rated for ages 8+.

Actual painted samples and not CG renders this time.

True enough, the antenna on the head unit of Orbiter NIGHTFALL does feature a safety flag. But that shouldn’t be an issue since you can easily snip and sand it. But something notable regardless.

30MM Option Parts Set Armored Core: Fires of Rubicon Weapon Set 01
September 21, 2024 / ¥1,500
Order from HobbyLink Japan

We are also getting the first of hopefully many weapon sets as this is basically a core component in customizing your Armored Cores in the game.

To be complely transparent, I’ve yet to build a 30MM kit and while I do have the Alto in storage, I know some have issues with its use of c-clips for joints and how they tend to loosen over time. I hope these Armored Core kits don’t encounter the same issues as their play pattern involves swapping parts, and we wouldn’t want joints to loosen because of this. I’m also aware that Tamashii Nations is also releasing their own Fires of Rubicon figures under The Robot Spirits brand. Personally, I’d prefer these kits so I hope these turn out really good.

Thoughts?
