“Robit” is an online slang used as alternative to the word “robot.”
If you are updated with recent Gunpla releases, then you should be very aware that this month is quite notable with the release of the RG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.2.0. While I may not be a bonafide collector of the Real Grade line with my focus on High Grades, I still make it a point to get “milestone” releases, and the RG Gundam 2.0 is definitely up there.
I’ve spent most of 2024 building kits from the Gundam SEED series, and I’ve expressed in my latest WIP post how I’m getting rather burnt out by the aesthetic. As such, I’m looking for something completely different to build, and this guy is definitely in my options. I also got the Option Parts Sets to build the Perfect Strike Gundam.
Speaking of options, another one also came in August, and it has more connections to Real Grade kits than Bandai Spirits ever wants to admit.
Most Chinese Gundam-adjacent model kits have been in the 1/100 scale, so it’s really a treat some venture into 1/144. Case in point being SNAA who is not only doing 1/144 scale kits, but they’ve been doing quite the banger with their Beyond Exquisite line, an obvious rip/homage to the Real Grade line. They currently have two kits in the line, both being part of their non-existent The Round Table Knights fiction. The first is Thunder Incise Grace, which is their take on the Gundam Asmoday design from IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS: Urdr Hunt.
Their sophomore release is Gods Guardian Gawain, still a Gundam-inspired kit though I can’t pinpoint a specific design they pulled from. I initially speculated Gundam Bael, but it’s not as obvious as Asmoday was. These Beyond Exquisite kits have inner frames just like Real Grades, though the parts separation isn’t as clever as Bandai Spirits. This means there would be small parts that you have to handle carefully, but it also means out-of-box colors are great.
In any case, I might build both Option Parts Sets first, then we’ll see if I’ll go the path of Excitement Embodied or Beyond Exquisite.
