Robot Mode Debut! “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” AMK Pro X Apelinq

During the opening scene of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, we were given a glimpse of Apelinq, the Maximal leader who sacrificed himself so that Optimus Primal and the rest of the Maximals, along with the Transwarp Key, can escape Scouge and Unicron.

We only saw Apelinq in beast mode, which is an obvious derivative from Optimus Primal’s CG model, but many are still curious how he would’ve looked in robot mode. You don’t need to wonder for long as Yolopark is releasing Apelinq as the first entry in their AMK Pro X series.

To those unfamiliar, Yolopark has been releasing these model kits though they’re more of build-a-figure sets since entire parts are already pre-built and preassembled for you. There’s the standard AMK line, then they have a higher end AMK Pro line, and now they have the premium AMK Pro X line.

The solicitation mentions that along with the very intricate details, it will also have an internal skeleton that you connect the external armor parts to. This should provide better articulation and more customization for folks who prefer painting their kits.

Here’s Apelinq in robot mode and as expected, he is very similar to Optimus Primal except for the large arm blades. To better compare and see their differences, here’s a side-by-side comparison.

One is battle-hardened, the other is fresh from the production line.

Obviously, their aesthetics are different as one is premium figure while the other is a standard release. But at least you could better see their design differences, like the additional front armor on Apelinq, as well as the extended right shoulder armor. Apelinq’s head has more hair-like detail when compared to Primal, as well as differeny eye colors. But overall, their designs are very, very similar.

Without the need for a transformation gimmick, combined with the pre-assembled inner skeleton, this allows Apelinq to have better range of articulation. If only he had weapons.

Because this is everything that comes with the set. Outside of extra pairs of hands, you also get this display base that looks like a mix of rocks and metal blocks. They also mention how it would reflect natural colors under different lighting conditions. It also has magnets, which means the figure has die cast content, to provide heft and stability.

June 2024 / $59.90

I believe many are collecting these Yolopark kits because of how good they look and pose, especially if you don’t care about the transformation. But personally, I’ll probably wait for Hasbro to release a Studio Series version of Apelinq, which is more or less guaranteed.

Thoughts?
