Today’s Robits: Mini Action Voltron Vehicle Force

While I don’t do these haul posts like I used to, I do make exceptions for, well, more exceptional releases. And one just came earlier today. Four years ago, during the height of what-we-shall-not-name, I wrote a blog post about Action Toys’ Mini Action line and how it was the best representation of how I wanted to collect super robot figures. Transforming and combining super robot figures. And while they don’t release as fast as the larger manufacturers, they ensure they make things right, and their latest figure is yet another example of that.

I immediately took it out of the box upon arriving home and combined the whole thing. What I really like about these figures is how they were able to engineer the transformation and combination cleverly despite the smaller size. Not to mention the superb articulation. They usually skim the accessories to keep the lower price point but at least these have the essentials.

Interestingly, I recently followed @JackActiontoys over at X (formerly Twitter) and got some interesting insights regarding this release. I’ll attach the first post in this thread for your reference.

Basically, Mini Action Vehicle Voltron is the 9th in the line while Lion Voltron is supposedly the 8th. However, they decided to swap their release windows since they also put-up pre-orders for Action Gokin Lion Voltron around the same time. They then realized how Vehicle Voltron has better articulation than Lion Voltron, and having the swapped release schedules would be detrimental to the latter. As such, they went back and adjusted the molds to improve them.

Between Vehicle and Lion Force Voltrons, the latter has more action figure coverage and as such, I am okay with the unfortunate release delay. That being said, I do hope it would make it within 2024 as it’s been a couple of years since they were first teased. And having both Voltron figures in the Mini Action line would be perfect for upcoming photobooth sessions.

Thoughts?
