Last year’s announcement of Transformers Missing Link Optimus Prime created massive hype leading up to its release. And upon its release, all the hype paid off with such a good figure. We’re not sure if Takara Tomy will continue the line with more characters, but I believe it will be a missed opportunity if they don’t. It also made me bust out my other G1 figure, which isn’t exactly G1.
I’m talking about Transformers Music Label Optimus Prime -speakers for ipod-, which is my first exposure to the mold, albeit with changes. It’s also the reason why I leaned towards the animation-inspired aesthetic rather than the original toy most collectors prefer. Regardless, I have finally managed to track a G1 Optimus Prime through one of its many reissues.
And since 2024 is the 40th anniversary of Transformers as a franchise, I’m thinking of covering these G1 figures in the CATALOGUE. I’ll start once my copy of the G1 Optimus Prime reissue arrives.
