After almost a couple of weeks, I’ve finally come back from my trip to Japan. But I’m not talking about that in this post, expect those in succeeding posts. What I will talk about is the new item reveals Good Smile Company, specifically their Good Mecha Smile division, made as part of Mecha Smile Impact 2024 Winter. Unlike the two previous events that were held annually, they decided to split the 2024 announcements during Winter and another in Summer.
And while they didn’t make as many announcements as before, there are still a good few that caught my interest, mainly from the MODEROID line.

First, we have MODEROID Luxion and Bradyon from Buddy Complex, a 2014 anime that went under the radar for most folks but had several interesting concepts. The Luxion and Bradyon are Valiancers (what they call the robots in this series) that can perform Coupling and unlock capabilities beyond anything a normal Valiancer can do. You can check out the clip below on how the whole thing works.
Both MODEROID kits can replicate the Coupling Modes of both Luxion and Bradyon using replacement parts. In addition, both kits also come with parts for the wing-like Aeroscales deployed in coupling mode.

The next two kits are technically unrelated but both are powered suits. First is Tekkaman Blade from the series of the same name, and also known as Teknoman in the west. It has already received several action figure treatments, to which I own the Figma version but you can also opt to get higher-end pieces like the RIOBOT version from Sen-Ti-Nel.
Speaking of RIOBOT, I’ve been inactively on the hunt for the RIOBOT Orgun figure from Detonator Orgun so I really appreciate that we now have a much affordable option, and it would be a great plus if both Orgun and Tekkaman Blade were released right around the same time because of their similarities.

The last two on my list are totally unrelated but got my interest regardless. On the left is God Mazinger from, well, God Mazinger. To those familiar, this is a different take from the usual Mazinger story where instead of being a piloted robot, God Mazinger is a giant statue awakened to defend the Kingdom of Mu from threats. My only gripe is that if I get this kit, it will be out of scale from the rest of my Mazinger-related figures since all of them are from the Super Robot Chogokin line. Which means I need another MODEROID Mazinger kit to scale with this guy, like their upcoming Mazinger ZEST perhaps?
On the other hand, Good Mecha Smile also announced MODEROID Red Five from Majestic Prince. If I remember correctly, it was within the last decade that Kotobukiya also released a Red Five kit, with a couple of reissues. I wanted to get one though I’ve been on the fence thanks to the rather diverse color palette this design has. I’m not saying that this MODEROID version would be better, but I hope it is. At the very least we have options on which one to get.
Like the previous Mecha Smile Impact reveals, I often say that I am interested in multiple MODEROID kit reveals but I often end up just getting very few. So, with the six in this list, I’m most interested in Orgun followed by the Buddy Complex twin units. Though I might just end up with God Mazinger so let’s see.
