Hasbro has held its Transformers panel for SDCC 2023, and they did have interesting reveals, including that new Studio Series Ultra Magnus figure that doesn’t have a white Optimus Prime inside. But the one I’m really interested with is this guy.
We are finally getting a mass retail Nova Prime figure, though this isn’t the first official figure for this character. The first figure is actually a BotCon exclusive based on the Thrilling 30 Orion Pax mold. This version of Nova Prime was subtlety hinted in the packaging art for the Amazon exclusive “Humble Origins” two-pack with Senator Shockwave and Data Clerk Orion Pax.
It is based on the Siege Ultra Magnus mold which has seen several reuses, including Siege Galaxy Upgrade Optimus Prime and Tenseg Base Optimus Prime sans all armor parts. This particular deco is then based on his brief appearance in the after-credits scene from the game Transformers: Devastation as seen in the clip below.
Nova Prime is one my favorite characters in terms of visual appearance. He apparently has a demented demeanor that contrasts his mostly white and gold colors. He’s definitely on my to-get list. He’s also an Amazon exclusive same as the recent two-packs we’ve gotten so you know where to get this guy.
