Stuff on the Office Desk: Primal and Primes

I don’t know if this is just me being subconsciously excited for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which is just a couple of months or so away, but I suddenly decided to bring these three out for my current office desk display pieces. And yes, I consciously decided not to go with the best representation of these characters from the mainline releases.

On the left is the Transformers (2007) original Voyager class Optimus Prime, which is Hasbro’s first attempt in doing the live action Optimus Prime design, while still having all the nuances coming from Transformers: Cybertron. On the opposite side to the right is the Transformers: Age of Extinction version of Optimus Prime. Specifically, the Takara Tomy-exclusive Battle Command Optimus Prime set which is meant to go along with the One-Step Changer toys released for the movie. While it doesn’t fall into a specific size class or price point, this is the closest we got to a Voyager class figure of the character at the time.

Lastly, in the center, is the original Ultra class Transmetal Optimus Primal figure from Beast Wars: Transformers. This is the Japanese version which has a little color difference when compared to the US version. Despite getting this guy several years ago, this is the first time I got to handle and display it. And for something that’s a couple or so decades old, it still holds up quite well.

I’m still waiting for my copies of the mainline Rise of the Beasts Voyagers to arrive but in the meantime, these three will have to do.
