So, you guys remember a show, Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury, its first season ended in early January with quite an infamous scene involving a mobile suit, a person, and a lot of red. And amidst the multiple delays the current anime season has been going, it’s truly fortunate that this series is still on track, with its second season due to premiere in April.
And April is just a month away as Sunrise, or Bandai Namco Filmworks, has dropped the first trailer for season 2, which you can see below.
Season two is supposed to take place two weeks after the incident at Plant Quetta with Suletta going back to Asticassia while Miorine is at the Benerit Group HQ watching over her father and the injuries he sustained from the aforementioned incident. That said, I’m still not sure if we’re returning to the same school hijinks given the recent events, but I don’t think they’re dropping altogether as it was part of the charm of the first season.
The trailer features several mobile suit battles, and a new opening theme from Japanese singer yama — which has a different tone from the opening theme by YOASOBI.
Say what you will on how season 1 ended but I’m definitely pumped for season 2. Again, I don’t expect a total war to break out in the same vein as previous Gundam shows as that kind of story has been told multiple times. Though they do need to provide resolution to the dangling plotlines of the megacorporation machinations and the conflict between Earthians and Spacians.
Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury season 2 will premiere on April 9 in Japanese TV stations and online streaming. Consequently, its premiere date is just 2 days away shy of the original Mobile Suit Gundam‘s premiere date of April 7.
