Guess the wait was worth it? S.H.Figuarts Space Sevenger

More than a year since its broadcast ended, many (myself included) still find Ultraman Z to be one of the best of the modern Ultraman series, and easily bests the Ultraman Trigger in my opinion. It was just a fun show overall, made even more fun by the “Special Airborne Armors” that were characters themselves, particularly Sevenger that it even got an S.H.Figuarts release.

Sadly, I wasn’t able to secure a copy of the figure and I’m not really willing to pay the extra after-market prices it now demands. Fortunately for us, we are getting a second chance of getting the figure thanks to the minor upgrades it got during its single quick appearance in Ultraman Trigger, as well as the last parts of the Tsuburaya Imagination original series Sevenger Fight. The original Sevenger unit was basically placed in a museum after its retirement in Sevenger Fight and replacing it is the new Space Sevenger, which for all intents and purposes is the same unit albeit some added parts.

The added parts are technically just the new oxygen pipes that allow it to operate in space, I guess, though they did mention that the cockpit can now accommodate two pilots instead of just one of the original. Consequently, you can easily remove the oxygen pipes to revert it to the original SC-1 Sevenger as seen in Ultraman Z, which immediately makes this set the better purchase.

The set also includes a bunch of new weapons. These include the Type-20 Multi-Purpose Taser Baton, Type-20 Bayonet Type-II, Special Airborne Armor Support Firearm 40mm General Purpose Autocannon, and the Super Rigid Core Drill Fist which debuted in Sevenger Fight.

As with the original release, this is a Tamashii Web Exclusive so hop on to your localized Premium Bandai online shop or your trusty middleman service to secure a copy, like I did earlier today.
