The following may contain spoilers for Godzilla VS. Kong.
For context, many have probably already seen Godzilla VS. Kong thanks to its simultaneous theatrical and HBOMax releases But it was supposed to have its Japanese premiere last Friday, May 14 though it got pushed back thanks to heightened restrictions due to the pandemic. That said, it appears the folks running the Tamashii Nations Instagram account (@instamashii) didn’t get that memo as they posted something which would’ve been considered spoilers for the aforementioned movie. Also, none of the other Tamashii Nations social media accounts, nor the official website, has solicitations up for this figure as of this post.

I haven’t watched the actual movie, but from what I gathered through thorough YouTube research, Mechagodzilla was created by Apex Cybernetics who we saw scavenging a remain of King Ghidorah from 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Using one of King Ghidorah’s brain as neutral interface, Apex constructed the mechanical Titan to gain back the control humanity lost upon the appearance of Godzilla and the succeeding Titans.

This incarnation of Mechagodzilla is very much silver but has tons of mechanical details sculpted in. It has movable cannons mounted on the shoulders and also uses die cast parts to provide more heft to this mechanical behemoth. Interestingly, these images don’t show some gimmicks that were otherwise present in the cheaper Playmates version. Including the red highlights on the back fins and the opening chest cavity to reveal missiles. Though for the latter, it appears that the armor for this version is removable based on the wider gap seen. But until more information is revealed, this is just speculation.
They haven’t taken down the Instagram post though they’ve not made any update regarding this figure. Hopefully when the film finally premieres in Japan, they’ll show more information as I’m totally getting one.
